Coyotes hired a new assistant coach, Dave King. King apparently fainted (originally reported as a heart attack) and was released from the hospital today. Hopefully everything is ok with him.
The Coyotes sent more players down to the AHL. Amongst them were Kyle Turris and Viktor Tikhonov. Jeff May, Chad Kolarik and Francis Lessard were also sent down. Speaking of Francis... the NHL has suspended him for 5 games for boarding.I am actually glad to be rid of Francis. He is not the guy I want on my team. He has pissed me off the last two years at training camp.
Ryan Hollweg was also sent down on Tuesday. I guess everyone missed that with all the hearings. Oh, BTW... it's official, the Coyotes will be here at least all of this season. Beyond that who knows.
Dave Spina, a Mesa native, and Brett MacLean are still up with the big boys. Dave Spina has had a wonderful camp. I really think he has a shot. If he doesn't make it this year, he will next season. He has gotten much stronger on his skates and does all the little things right. And did I mention he brings his own cheer section or two? MacLean, I haven't noticed him much this camp but apparently the right people have. I said this off season, he may have a shot. He finished strong in SA from what I recall.
Season Opener is now a "Welcome Back Whiteout". Get your tickets now. $25 for lower level. You can not beat that. I apparently will be sitting near the penalty box. Woohoo!
And hidden in Dave Vest's blog I found this gem... "Forward
Taylor Pyatt continues to nurse the lower body injury he suffered last week in a game vs. Los Angeles. He likely will be out for two or three more weeks." Get well soon Taylor! We need you on the ice.
That's all I got for now. I am sure I am missing some news but I've been a bit busy over here. Until next time!
